It's all about the balance.

July has been an incredibly busy month. I left my beautiful, peaceful home in Mexico to return to my peaceful home in a small town in East Texas at the beginning of the month. Regular practice of yoga and plenty of rest had me feeling peaceful and balanced. Then life happened! Back to work, travel to Austin-Miami-Austin-East Texas. A couple of lovely days entertaining the grandchildren. Renovating a rental apartment. Taking care of customers and planning work trips. Spending quality time with husband, family, friends. Yoga training weekend in Austin. Pay the bills! Do the laundry! Clean the house! Yikes! What happened to that feeling of balance and serenity?
All of these were lovely, normal, necessary activities. But I could feel the sense of serenity and balance slipping from my life. While I do maintain a daily yoga practice, all of the activities in the month of July seemed to interfere with the length and quality of my practice time. Today, this blessed Saturday, was all mine. I truly had nowhere that I had to go and nothing that I needed to do. And I used my morning to restore the balance to my life that my practice of yoga gives me. Truly a beautiful metaphor.
